Spend the Day at Ocean City Beach
Ocean City, Maryland is made up of 10 miles of beautiful coastline and is the perfect place to spend the day when you are on vacation in the area. It is completely free to visit the beach and is open between the hours of 5am and 10pm meaning you could truly spend the entire day there if you chose to. Aside from the golden sands, there is also plenty you can do at the beach so there is no risk of anyone getting bored;
Surfing
The Boardwalk which is directly adjacent to the beach is home to a number of surf shops so if you fancied giving it a try then you know where to head. The Grand Hotel Ocean City is located on the Boardwalk so you should easily be able to find the stores you need as well. During the summer months there are two specific beaches which are open to surfers as well as one beach near the Inlet which is available Monday to Friday. Be sure to check for flags when you arrive to make sure you are in the right area and to check current ocean conditions.
Watersports
Aside from surfing there are a number of other watersports you can enjoy in the area including jet skiing, kayaking and parasailing. Check online for companies which offer these activities, you’ll notice there is no shortage to choose from.
Soak up the Sun
Ocean City Beach is a family-friendly beach which is clean, safe and ideal for a spot of sunbathing. If you are booked to stay in one of the ocean front hotels in Ocean City MD then it is a simple case of grabbing your bathing costume and your towel and heading down onto the sand for the day. With the Boardwalk so close you can get any snacks and refreshments you might need and there are public restrooms available for use as well.
Beach Fireworks
On a Monday and Tuesday evening, at 8.30pm there is a fireworks display held on the beach which is truly the best way to round off a beach day. The displays are held between July to September and are visible from the Boardwalk.
Go Crabbing
Crabbing is a very popular pastime in Ocean City and one which can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages. You can go crabbing in various locations around the piers and some parts of the bay, but do check that you are allowed to crab before you begin and try to be respectful of the wildlife around you, releasing the crabs after a reasonable amount of time.
Watching the Sunset
Ocean City is a particularly picturesque part of Maryland and there is nothing better than watching the sun set over the ocean. You could pack a picnic and bring a blanket to watch the sun set from the beach or head to one of the restaurants near the Inlet for some spectacular waterside views over nearby Assateague Island.
