Biking in Ocean City, Maryland

There are many reasons to visit Ocean City, Maryland, and one of them is to be able to head out on a bike to admire the stunning views. Travellers will get to witness the history of this amazing destination by riding past its numerous beautiful buildings and landmarks. They can take a trip along the gorgeous Potomac River or wander through one of the area’s parks to appreciate the natural beauty of the area. They can ride along the coast or venture through the urban areas stopping off at a range of cultural institutions along the way. There are a number of amazing routes that travellers can try out when they are in Maryland.

Historical Routes

Tourists should take a trip along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal that was built to connect the country. It has hundreds of miles of trails that begins in Cumberland and includes many interesting stops along the way. Handily there is a mobile app available that explains the historic significance of areas along the route. Fort Washington Park has cycle paths that take travellers through the 200-year-old stone fort built to protect Washington DC. Travellers must definitely make sure they plan their bike trip when an artillery demonstration is happening.

Cultural Trails

Jefferson Patterson Park is a superb place to head for tourists who want a lovely slice of culture. Here there is a series of trails that run through and around the park that is home to the state’s Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory. Here tourists can discover any artifacts dug up by the state, as well as have an enjoyable time wandering around the pretty green space. Seneca Creek State Park has more than 50 miles of trails along the creek and Clopper Lake. Tourists will really enjoy stopping off during this route to head to the Black Rock Mill, which has been partly restored with wonderful exhibits about the 1815 mill.

St. Mary’s River State Park is a fantastic place to head that has a 7.5-mile trail that loops around the lake. This is home to freshwater fishing and some of the most amazing bird-watching spots in the state. The Great Allegheny Passage Bike Trail is brilliant as it offers stunning views from Cumberland using historic tunnels and bridges. Assateague State Park is another top example of a beautiful destination as it offers unspoiled beaches and is famous for its wild horses. Tourists cycling in this area should head to one of the brilliant seafood restaurants in Ocean City MD that are very impressive eateries to try out.
