The Boardwalk

The Ocean City Boardwalk is three miles of souvenir shops, entertainment, surf and beach stores not to mention some of the best restaurants in Ocean City MD.  It’s a great place to spend a couple of hours taking a stroll and wandering in and out of the stores which are dotted along this beachfront stretch.  You will find all kinds of shops here from t-shirt shops to candy stores, specialty pet shops to jewelers so it is worth visiting if you want a relaxed time soaking up the seaside atmosphere whilst enjoying some retail therapy.

Coastal Highway

This is the place to go if you want to purchase some beach or summer-style fashion items as this part of Ocean City has a whole host of surf shops to choose from.  Although it’s a little further away than the Boardwalk, there is a Coastal Highway ‘Beach Bus’ which will take you right along the Highway and costs just $3 to travel for the entire day making it very good value as well.

Gold Coast Mall

Further up the coastline, just north of the Grand Hotel you will find the Gold Coast Mall; the ideal choice if you want to take a step away from the beach for just a short period of time.  The Gold Coast Mall can boast a variety of shops, restaurants and services and is Ocean City’s only year-round mall so even if you don’t visit during peak season, you can still get your fill of a day spent shopping.

Berlin

If you fancy doing something different for the day then take a trip out to Berlin.  It is less than 10 miles from the beachfront and offers a wonderful selection of quirky and interesting boutiques and stores.  Part of the charm are the shops which line the streets and which take you through all kinds of time periods from Raynes Reef, the 50’s milkshake and soda bar to the Atlantic Hotel which was built in 1895.  Although it is worth visiting this historic town for the unusual shops and hidden gems alone, there are also a number of other things worth seeing once you have made the trip including the galleries and the stunning Victorian architecture still found here.
